NEW AED Grant for New Mexico Communities!

Available immediately, "PROJECT PULSE" - a program through the Heart Hospital NM Foundation - has funding available for NEW Community PAD programs.

If awarded, the recipients will receive the following:

  • Cardiac Science G3 AED- (semi-auto or automatic)
  • Non-rechargeable lithium  battery (4 year warranty)
  • Durable soft carrying case
  • AHA HS CPR-AED course (up to 8 people)
  • 12 months  Medical Direction (in state cardiologist)
  • 4 year AED registration with the NM DOH Cardiac Response Act
  • Quality Improvement Program
  • Paramedic oversight of AED program

Requirements: Any public, private or non-profit organization may apply. 1st Priority will be given to organizations that can show ability to provide approximately 25% or more in matching funds (estimated at $500-600) although matching funds are not required to apply. Next priority will be given to all non- profit organizations. Organizations will need to be able to provide sustainment funding for the program after the first 12 months. AED pads, Medical Direction, AHA HS CPR/AED training will all need to be continued when renewal or expiration dates are indicated. Agencies must complete a brief application and complete a letter addressed to the Heart Hospital Foundation Executive Director, stating they will agree to provide sustainment funding if awarded funding. A sample funding budget will be given out upon request after application request is received.   All recipients will be required to enter into an AED Program agreement with the Heart Hospital Foundations current medical training contractor for CPR/AED Training, QA, and Medical Direction.

Target Groups: This grant is ideal for local communities wishing to start a community PAD program. Local churches, volunteer community groups, search and rescue, local shelters, community/convention centers, shopping malls, golf courses, hotels, resorts, schools, and anything where people may congregate. Law enforcement and volunteer fire departments may apply but will be given lower priority. All are encouraged to apply for funding.

Grant Period: Continual, no closure date.
