EMS Region I, Region II EMS, EMS Region III Announcement
HOUSE BILL 99 (HB 99) ACTION ALERT
TEAMWORK - Together We Succeed!!!
Our mission is to promote EMS, educate elected and appointed officials and the public on issues of importance to EMS and Trauma Systems, monitor and influence EMS legislation and regulatory activity, and raise awareness among decision-makers on issues of importance to EMS. A founding principle for EMS Regional Offices is to support the needs of all components of EMS in every community across New Mexico!
Team HB99,
Please distribute email broadly!!!
We are proud to announce that the House Health and Government Affairs Committee unanimously gave a DO PASS for HB 99, the Emergency Medicl Services Surtax! The is a very important step towards adoption of the EMS Legacy Act.
The victory was real and rewarding! We also saw what we knew to be true all along: Any change worth making is hard and will be fought (by the insurance lobbyist) at every turn. We could have simply sought to do things that were easy, that wouldn't stir up controversy. But changes that aren't' controversial rarely solve the problem! We aren't walking away from these challenges. In fact, our determination and resolve are only stronger after Thursday's victory!
Real change and challenges are never easy. For that reason, we are grateful you're part of this fight with us! HB99 is due to be heard at House Appropriations and Finance Committee (likely Monday or Tuesday). This is an extremely important committee! Click here for a list of the HAFC members.
In the meantime, all members from HAFC need to hear from you as soon as possible. We have been advised to send an email that simply states:
To: Representative/Senator
Subject: SUPPORT HB99
Text: Name, Title, Service Affiliation, County, City, Daytime Phone Number

We're making great progress, but there is till a lot to do. If possible, please take the time to travel to Santa Fe and see your Representatives and Senators in person. Our reward could be priceless!
